Kilkea National School (formally Scoil Náisiúnta Cill Cae) is a three-classroom school nestled in the beautiful south Kildare countryside. Originally founded in 1863 in the old schoolhouse, the children moved up the road to a new two-classroom school in 1950. The completion of works, including an extension, in June 2009 saw the school building expand to a 3-classroom building with GP Hall.
Nearby Kilkea Castle was the seat of the Fitzgerald clan - Earls of Kildare and Dukes of Leinster - for over 700 years.
We hope you enjoy looking around our website, and would love to hear from you; just get in touch!
Kilkea NS is a vertical, mainstream school. This means our school caters for all pupils from Junior Infants to Sixth Class. Our school day runs from 9:20am-3:00pm (although the infant day is one hour shorter)
Our Patron is the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Dublin, Dermot Farrell
